FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Thank you for your interest in or support of the Loveland Therapy Fund. We truly value the opportunity to support you. Below are FAQs for prospective or current recipients and therapists.
FAQ for Interested or Current Therapy Fund Recipients
Each Therapy Fund recipient can receive a maximum of 12 vouchers, issued in batches of 4 at a time. All vouchers must be used before they expire, as they cannot be reissued, renewed, or replaced.
Important: This voucher limit applies to all participants, regardless of when they first received vouchers. If you have participated in a previous year, you cannot reapply, even if vouchers were unused.
Each voucher covers up to $120 per session cost. If a session costs less than $120, the remaining voucher balance can go toward a future session. If a session costs more than what’s left on the voucher, Participants are responsible to cover the difference. You cannot apply multiple vouchers to the same session.
Key rules:
- 1 voucher = up to $120
- You cannot use more than one voucher for a single session.
- Leftover funds from a used voucher do not roll over to a new one.
Please see examples here.
To request additional vouchers you must first be an approved Therapy Fund Participant with an active Loveland Portal Account.
Next Steps:
- Log into your Loveland Portal.
- Go to the Voucher Section.
- Click “Request Vouchers.”
Once requested, vouchers typically appear on your voucher dashboard within 1-2 business days. For your 2nd and 3rd requests, you may need to complete a closeout survey before receiving the next batch.
Important: This voucher limit applies to all participants, regardless of when they first received vouchers. If you participated in a previous year, you cannot reapply, even if vouchers were unused.
Loveland vouchers may only be redeemed for services with a licensed therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, or clinician under the supervision of a licensed therapist, psychologist and/or psychiatrist in the United States (including U.S. territories) while actively obtaining their license. The clinicians will also need to include the name and license number or NPI number of their supervisor during the invoice process. If either of these conditions can not be met, we do not recommend proceeding.
Important: We offer directories as resources for finding therapists, but we do not match Therapy Fund participants with therapists or schedule appointments directly. For more details, see the next question.

Loveland offers only two payment options for participants and their therapists:
- Self-Pay: Participants pay their therapist upfront, and then Loveland reimburses the Participant.
- Therapist-Pay: Loveland pays Therapists directly for the services provided to the Participant.
Important: Both participants and therapists must use the Loveland Portal and our Stripe ACH service, regardless of the payment option selected. Additionally, payment options cannot be switched once selected. If these conditions are not suitable, we do not recommend proceeding.

Absolutely! Finding a therapist is like dating. Sometimes it’s not a perfect match, so not all vouchers in a set have to be used with the same licensed therapist. If one licensed therapist does not work out feel free to use the remaining vouchers with a different one following the same connection steps within the portal (see previous question).
We do not accept third-party sign-ups.
Prospective Therapy Fund Participants must sign themselves up for support via our website. Additionally, once received, vouchers can NOT be transferred to another individual.
Please note, interested participants must be age 18, or older, reside in the United States and identify as a Black woman or nonbinary person in order to qualify for the Therapy Fund.
Due to the high volume of applicants, Therapy Fund application processing and voucher assignment takes us a few weeks. Therefore we do not advise referring loved ones or friends who need immediate funds to pay for therapy. All potential recipients must sign themselves up for vouchers through our website. We do not accept third-party sign-ups.
FAQ for Therapists – If you are interested in or currently accepting Loveland vouchers
To apply for vouchers, a therapy seeker must complete our intake application when it is open. Sign-ups are held quarterly via our website. If approved, they become Participants and are eligible to receive up to 12 vouchers for therapy session costs, each valued up to $120.
Vouchers can only be redeemed after both the Participant and Therapist have fully connected on the Loveland Portal and have set up a Stripe ACH account. Participants will provide you with a detailed guide outlining this process.

We process payments on the 1st and 15th of every month. However, submissions must be received at least 5 days before the payment date to be processed in the current cycle. If submitted after the payment date, the invoice will be processed in the following cycle. For instance, an invoice submitted on February 12th will be processed on March 1st, not February 15th. After processing, ACH payments can take an additional 3-5 business days to reach your account.
Important: Stripe is the ACH service we use. We do not issue checks. These are Non-negotiable.
ACH via Stripe. We do not issue checks. This is non-negotiable.
Vouchers can be accepted by any licensed therapist in the United States who chooses to accept them. Therapists do not need to complete any paperwork with The Loveland Foundation before accepting vouchers. Please note: accepting vouchers so that we may pay for a qualified client’s therapy sessions on their behalf, does not establish a formal partnership between the foundation and any practice.
Important: Both participants and therapists must use the Loveland Portal and our Stripe ACH service, regardless of the payment arrangement.
Individuals who are under the supervision of a licensed therapist can accept vouchers as long as their client, the Therapy Fund Participant, is aware that the therapist is pre-license. During invoice submission, they must include the name and license number or NPI number of their supervisor.
